Samples Quilts
Gail Newell completed this quilt that was a winner in a recently held online exhibit in Richmond. She used a free-form curved piecing technique to make the moon in her wall hanging. Here is the link to the exhibit to see her award-winning quilt: https://www.richmondartscouncil.com/programs/9th-annual-midsummer-arts-dream-virtual-exhibit/ The applique flowers were enough work that Gail thinks she may never do that again!
This quilt was recently completed by Laura Gates. I love that when Laura makes a quilt, she often starts with a pattern but then makes it her own.
In this case, Laura started with my One House, Two House… pattern, which you can see in my Etsy shop:
But, as you can see, she created an even more fascinating design with her variations in size and the addition of lots more colour. So inspiring!
Maureen Kennedy made a larger version of my quilt, Yama to Kawa, which is pictured to the left. She told me that, as she was making it, she found the half-rectangle triangle points didn’t match her satisfaction in one or two places. So Maureen added some embroidery to cover the offending spots. She sent a photo or two, which are shown below.
Well, that’s it for now. I will leave you with the news that I have a new line of Robert Kaufman Essex linen and cottons arriving soon. So, stay tuned for watching some great photos as soon as I have them.
In the meantime, please be well and, if you are ready for a shopping trip, make an appointment and visit me!
